A Heartfelt Appeal
My name is Aldoraine, and I am reaching out with a humble heart, seeking your guidance and assistance during a very challenging time in my life.
I am 33 years old, happily married for nine years, and a mother to two boys aged 16 and 8.
Over the years, I have struggled with persistent health issues - low blood pressure, migraines, back pain, and eye discomfort. After years of unexplained symptoms, my condition gradually worsened.
Why I'm Reaching Out
My life changed on the 24th December 2024.
During a recent eye examination, the optometrist discovered severe swelling on my brain and a swollen optic nerves, indicating possible papilledema. This urgent concern led to a CT scan at New Somerset Hospital, which confirmed the presence of a mass or tumor.
Further investigations revealed that I have a large fronto-sphenoid wing meningioma. The doctors advised that surgery is necessary, but due to the tumor’s location and potential risks, they recommended monitoring it closely before proceeding.
In December, I underwent a private MRI, which confirmed the diagnosis and highlighted signs of increased intracranial pressure. Since then, my symptoms have worsened. Despite trying to schedule surgery through Groote Schuur Hospital, I have encountered delays and difficulties. Most recently, my condition deteriorated again, and follow-up imaging confirmed the tumor's progression. Doctors now stress the urgent need for surgical intervention, yet I am still waiting for a confirmed date.
Throughout this ordeal, I have felt overwhelmed and helpless, especially given the challenges in navigating the healthcare system and securing the necessary treatment..
I am reaching out to my church community and you, Father Rohan, in the hope of finding support and guidance. I am considering starting a GoFundMe campaign to raise the funds needed for my surgery and treatment. I fear that without prompt intervention, my health could deteriorate further.
I am currently waiting for quotations for a craniotomy and removal of full tumor, at Mediclinic on low rates , I have pleaded my case and asked for assistance. I will glady forward the quotations once I have received them.
